What wuold be the best motor for a VW Jetta?

if your car has the vtec engine then you can part it out. then engine and transmission could bring in 1200 to 1500 and the computer, ecu, another 100 or 150. it really depends on where you live and the demand in that area. look on ebay and see what the parts are going for on there. if your car is an ls or gs, non vtec engine, most would deem it worthless. after you have sold off everything you can, you can sell it to a junk yard, maybe $200, or get whomever buys the engine to take the whole thing. whole car on ebay, maybe 5-8 hundred bucks depended on the extend of the damage. the fender and door are easy to replace, the back panel not hard to straighten. if nothing else, see how much it would cost to repair if you buy the replacement parts. a door can be bought for less than 200 from a junk yard and there are a ton of fenders on ebay for $200 or less for a set. a good running car might be worth fixing if the frame is not bent. if it still runs and drives, then can be fixed easily.
or if you are close to baton rouge let me know and i might buy it. I have 6 now but could always use another......

I need info on buying a Suzuki Grand vitara are they a good car this one has 96k for 4600.00 2001 looks good.

Where do you live? The other answer is correct with what he is saying, but to find the value of the car, is to call a junkyard and ask how much they are paying per hundred pounds for junk. Also if you take it to a junkyard you must remove the gas tank, and the wheels as most of them doesn't take tanks or tires. Figure what it weighs, and you have what it is worth for junk.
The best thing to do is; if you have a local paper like auto trader, or iwanna type, then you could run it in there to sell all the parts off, but by doing this you also will be selling weight from the vehicle, and could end up paying someone to take the remainder off your hands. Junk yards sometimes will come get a junk car and pay you for the car too, but don't expect them to offer you much for it. I'm sorry to be honest with you, as I know this is not what you wanted to hear. If someone wants the engine, then make them take the whole car. Don't sell the wheels off of it either, (or you will have no way to move it around), until you are ready to get it out of your yard.
Glad I could help you, Good Luck!

what would cause my brakes to smoke?

Definitely advertise the car on ebay, but don't part it out unless you want to get dirty and mail a million different parts. Sell the entire car, take about 10 pictures and start the auction low, at 300, don't use a reserve, this will attract plenty of buyers. Tell them that they must tow the vehicle out.
