Question:
We are thinking of purchasing a 2004 AWD Escalade. It has 54,000mi on it and appears to be in GREAT condition. However, during the test drive we heard an unusal "humming" from the front. Is this the AWD or something with the CV shaft, maybe the rotors, low on fluid? Anyone have any suggestions on what this could be? Also, this was purchased from an auction [we've had bad luck with an auction car before...] Any thoughts on this? Heard of recalls? Had your own problems with this make/model?

What is the curb weight of a 1967 ford mustang coupe automatic v8?
If the noise increases and decreases with engine speed then it might be a belt or something on the accessory drive system such as the alternator or power steering pump. Check the power steering fluid. If the noise changes with vehicle speed then it might be something in the front drive system. This could also be caused by a fan motor or a fan hitting the shroud. If the noise is only when you hit the brakes then that's your problem. Pop the hood and check all the fluids. Then listen to it running. Try to figure out what exactly is making the noise and you should be able to diagnose the problem better.Need help locating the turn signal flasher and or switch on 95 contour?
Well a lot of AWD and 4WD owners forget to service the differentials with fluid changes when they should. Also a lot of 4WD owners who should engage 4wd at least every month or 1000 mi to keep everything moving don't. Tires? what shape are they in? Are they new? Some tires because of the tread design make a humming noise. The only reason that Escalade went through an auction is it was sitting on a lot for more than 90 days or where you live gas IS REALLY EXPENSIVE. tAKE THE VIN# AND GO TO A CADDY DEALER AND SEE THE MAINTENANCE RECORDS ON THIS VEHICLE! The frt differential gear set may be the noise you are hearing.if it comes and goes while pressing on the gas ,then it could just be a worn ring and pinion ,or was never set up correctly when new.More Questions & Answers ...
