My 1996 Ford Laser Liata SXI is shuddering and revving a bit when I'm idling...?

Hi there yup it's shuddering and reccing when I'm idling - not heaps, but bit. What do you think is wrong with it? Is it safe? Should I take it on a long Easter road trip...? Thanks!

Time for a basic tune-up. Plugs, wires, rotor and cap. check all vacuum lines for dry-rot and replace if needed.. When you hit the road for the long drive, get some fuel system cleaner. Pour the system cleaner in and then fill up. The long distance drive will help clean and blow out the crud.
