Question:
I own one, if you own one or are a mechanic, have you had any tranny problems? I had to replace mine at 160 000kms. First of my Fords to ever do that.
Answers:
Anytime you buy a brand new vehicle, nobody could tell you that "nothing will break down", and it doesn't matter what you buy. With the tranny fixed up, you should be good for a long time with no other issues.
I have had Fords since I started driving but I'm not sure as what 160 000 kms is in miles. But my wife drives a 04 Ford F150 5.4L and it has 70K miles on it and it hasn't giving us any problems at all. Were you out of warranty?

And I've seen a few of the newer models have the transmissions rebuilt or replaced, but usually it was from being torn up by owners (Know of one that installed a lift kit in such a angle that it beat up the rear support bearing in the transmission)... but usually it was overloading of the truck.. Ford conservatively rates the f-150 and we have many people who use a f-150 to do a f-350s work load.
Failures of a transmission part can happen and I have heard of a few, but none I've seen in the place I work at.
