Phone compatibility with new car?

Question:
Hi, i have a new BMW X5 but the phone i have, a NOKIA N73 doesnt work on the handsfree, i have tried another phone which does work. Cant get hold of BMW and i am looking at a replacement phone, would anyone know firstly why the N73 doesnt work and secondly were can i get a list of phones that do work with the car?? Cheers.
