Well, this doesn't exactly answer your question, but if you are trying to swap a better rear axle into one of those old trucks, use one out of a later model (73-87) GM truck. The spring perch measurement from center to center, and the drum to drum width should be the same.

You may want to contact your local auto part dealer on the 91-96. As far as the 1950, contact the boys at Desert Valley Auto parts. They specialize in classic cars they should have the answer. BTW the too axels will not bolt right up. You will have to change the springs over to leaf and make a few modifications. I seem to remember the 50's having over leaf springs.
