What is the firing order for a 1993 ford explorer 4.0?
the cyl head must come off for cam replacement so labor will be the same as a valve job, if going w/a performance cam use the cam manufactures recommended springs lifters etc. and you may as well as have the valve job done anyway to freshen up the head don't forget the guides and seals. if you are replacing the cam with a factory stock one i would have to ask why it failed. if oil starved you must remedy this first as the new shaft will be ruined instantlyupon startup. [a grand for labor+ gaskets and fluids[about 150] plus about 250-350 for machine shop services] if 1500 dollars scares you then maybe you should pass on this project. What is the bolt size on a distributor for a 91 chevy silverado?
I own a shop, and to do this job I would say you would be anywhere from 1,200 - 1,500 dollars. This would cover just the camshaft, and any other components such as going to a high performance cam would be more, due to the fact you have to use different valve springs with a high lift cam. I would agree with the answer on the reason for changing the cam. Is it for performance purposes, or did something wear out or break?Glad to help out, Good Luck!
