Question:
Because of this convenance control module, fuse #14 blows out. It causes the car (2001 Vw Passat) not to start. The doors will not lock and the trunck will not open. Now I'm told this module has to be replaced.
I do not use my alarm key because the battery went out a year ago. In my searching the alarm key seems to be related to this thing. I'm not sure how. Could this be part of the issue.

Unfortunately they are all connected..The Comfort Control module (which works the door locks and trunk locks) also is part of the circuit for the alarm system which (whether you use it or not) is part of the starting circuitry. By design it's meant to prevent someone from breaking into your car and stealing it..It's called the Immobilzer II.
