i think it was the fact that they didn't sell as good as they thought they would,,i know one thing for sure now though,the ones out there have become collectors items now,,there's one of those in my home town,and there asking 8 grand for it,,and it needs a lot of work,,and the sad part of it is,,they actually turned down 7 grand for it,i would have taken it,,but that's why they did stop production on them,,good luck hope this help,s.,,happy new years.my 2001 nissian frontier service engine soon light is on what does this mean?

with the honda/toyota/cabrio thing.. japanese cars are easier to maintain.. and cheaper. vw engineers are smart.. they wire stuff all together so you have to go to the garage to fix the lights that come on. i have a bug (turbo S mind you!!...anyway) when my husband changed the oil, the check engine light came on and after resetting it multiple times, it still was on. but we eventually fixed it. just a pain in the butt with VWs. great looking cars, but maintenance is expensive!! unless you dont care about money, i would get a honda!
