Question:
Can the VTEC system which was originally introduced as a DOHC system in the 1988 Honda Civic CRX SiR sold in Japan and Europe with a 160 hp variant of the B16A engine be installed in a 1986-87 Civic Si easily? And can I keep my original tranny, and A/C for this new engine?

Should i let my husband buy a Mercedes c class?
You would definately want to swap the tranny too because it is geared much better for a 160hp motor. If the CRX had an ECU that year then you would need that too. What are 100K mile scheduled replacements for a 1999 C280?
Engine swaps are going to cost lots of money no matter what, so you are MUCH better off finding a much nwer b16a from a newer (95-03) civic ex or si. Not only will it have less miles, an ECU, but additional bolt on performance parts will be easier to find as well.
IMO, it wouldnt be worth the money since you can pick up someones already modified civic for under $5K and have some engine work (bore out the cylinders, wider throttle body, new cams, new rods and pistons) done to it for cheaper than an engine swap and it would add more power. or perhaps just do that engine work to your existing motor, it is like getting a brand new engine! Find a machine shop.
