i have a couple questions.. my car is at the Chevy dealership with "bad heads" they want to hit me with a $2700 bill so i was thinking how much would it cost to have them rebuild engine? Is there another possible engine i can replace this with that wont cause any trouble?? (I know its a pain in the butt to switch to a 3.8l not looking to do that) Finally my car only have 60,000 mi on it and i called Chevy customers relations they dont want to do anything for me is there somewhere else i can call to complain ?
I think (dont know too much about cars) the problem that happen with the car is a thermo sensor went car overheated and blew head gaskets took it to a midas and bootleg fixed it so i can get it home about 2 miles down the road thats why they dont want to do anything but he only attached a wire from battery to fan b.c it wasnt goin on and they are blaming the heads going b.c of him.

what the guy did at midas was not wrong, and didnt harm your car in any way. the fact that your fan relay burned up and your fan stopped working is the REASON for your car overheating and MESSING UP your heads.warping them, blowing head gaskets.
what the guy did at midas, by putting a wire from the battery to the fan, was he bypassed a relay switch which would turn the fan ON cooling the fluids through the radiator.

The 3.4 is a good motor but any of these motors are no good once they get hot, I am assuming that it is only a couple of years old, if you plan on keeping the car then I would just have then rebuild the motor or put in a new one. When you start putting diff eng in a car that new you run into all kinds of troubles, wiring, fuel lines,water lines, so you are better off fixing or trading it in on another one. Just remember it doesn't matter what the motor is if it is aluminum it doesn't like to get hot so you really have to pay attention to the cooling system.More Questions & Answers ...
