Question:
I have a Subaru Baja and one of the listed security features is Valet lockout. I do not know what this is. But today, when I went to put my son on bus with car running, the doors locked on me. Now, I do not know if one of us accidentally hit the lock button, but I did not think that they locked with the key in the ignition, much less the car running. So I did not know if this lockout feature had anything to do with my incident this AM.

You can flip a switch in the trunk that will disengage the trunk opener inside the car. The valet key will not open the trunk from the outside. This feature exists so that you can give the valet key to the valet parker without worrying about him or her opening the trunk. Also, you can lock the glove compartment with the regular key. The valet key will not be able to unlock it. Something may have hit the lock button on your remote. This happens once in a while if your remote is in a pocket (or bag).Valet lockout typically disengages the trunk, so you can place any valuables in the trunk area without valets snooping through the contents.
I don't think this feature had any involvement with your problem this morning.
This feature has nothing to do with the valet. You can lock your glove box with the main key but peoplecan drive the car and unlock the doors with the valet key. The valet key will not open the glove box.
