Question:
It runs. Has about 250,000 miles on it. We are the original owners and take good care of our cars- frequent oil changes, regular maintenance. Just had $500.- worth of work put into the brakes. Had to disconnect the horn because it wouldn't stop beeping. Would consider getting a new one but now Ford owns Volvo. I hear the new don't compare with the old ones. Any thoughts?
Answers:
Hopefully Ford will sell Volvo cars back to Volvo.
Keep it until it dies! Our son is driving my 1989 240DL 4door (The Blue Beast) with 175000 miles. No rust! A/C, cruise and all power accessories still work! Did put in a new water pump and struts at 160K. Got him a bra for it for Christmas. He's 6'3" and it is very comfortable for him. he graduates college in a month and will keep driving it. He loves it.

Our daughter has Volvo #2 (Great White Whale), a '96 850 wagon with 150K, and it is running perfectly with $0 repairs other than normal maintenance (brakes, tires, oil changes)!

It'll run almost forever if you keep oil in it and protect it from rust. Why does my 1995 Mazda Millenia not accelerate anymore?
We have a 740 with 240k and a 960 with 150k. I also have a friend with a 740 turbo that sees regular abuse- turbo producing more boost than stock, wheelspin, etc. They stand up to anything if you keep oil in them.
F250 changing from 2 wheel drive to 4x4?
Book values reflect their durability. I don't see other cars, short of a BMW or Mercedes, that commonly fetches $2000+ for a good example.
