Question:
Normally, when unlocking my car, if i turn my key twice it unlocks all of my doors, and when locking it locks all my doors and turns my alarm on. Suddenly both of these features stopped working. Now my key will only unlock and lock my driver side door and my alarm does not turn on. This problem only effects my driver side lock, whereas my passanger side lock still operates the central locking system. Is this an electrical or mechanical problem if determinable by just this information? And if so does anyone know how to fix it?

This could be one of a number of things , first thing i would check is the wires coming out of the inner door well that goes into the body of the car.i say this because you say the alarm is not working also, if you pull back the rubber insulator you might find a few broken wires, this it due to opening and closing the door over time, some shops repair them and some replace the whole harness. 2 . you may have a vacuum pump leak, or a bad vacuum pump or both. A good way to check if its a vacuum leak it to lock the door with the key or remote, do this while placing your ear on the driver side rear quarter panel , this where the pump is located if you hear a buzzing sound the pump is working and there's a leak in the system somewhere..I have the same problem. I have heard it may have something to do with the air line. The locks are powered by a central air system. I haven't taken my rear door panel off to check yet. I believe it is behind the drivers side rear door.
