What should the psi for fuel pressure be on a 24 value Cummins turbo 5.9 6 cly?

Question:
I would like to install an adjustable psi fuel pump to avoid lift pump failure and resulting injector pump failure which I was told was caused by low fuel pressure. What would be the optium psi for best overall performance?

Answers:

Ready Lift?

17 PSI is a good number. The Injection Pump (VP44) starts going bad when it actually starts sucking air. Air cavation starts making the pump go bad because the pump uses the fuel as it's own luberication. Puttting a aftermarket fuel pump on these trucks is must even in stock set up.
