It has to be done with a scanner. Not a code reader. Any professional grade scan tool will have a function to allow the PCM to learn the crank sensor variation. You have to put the PCM in the learn mode and snap the trottle acouple of times.

i own a repair shop and if the power was on or the battery cable was on when it was removed it wont go off,you have to back trace what you done and remove the power from it before you disconnect it,i know it doesn't sound logical but that's exactly what i had to do to get one to clear off,it only took me a whole day to realize this,you may have to do this a few times to get it to take,other wise that code will stay on it,,always disconnect all power sources to it before removing it,what its done is spiked it,now you have to UN spike it,and this means killing the power to it,to make it clear its self,good luck with it,this isn't any fun at all,been the and done it before, but you will get it to clear off.
