My fuel gauge doesn't work and I'm sure its the sending unit... I just looked under the truck... lol... How am I sappost to get to it? Drop the tank or is there a access panel under the seat? If I have to drop the tank is it hard?

2001 hyundai accent fuel filter location ?
This could be a couple of different problems. Don't just assume its the sending unit. It could be a bad ground, broken wire, or a fuse also. Same thing happened 2 my 94 & it was both a wire & fuse.I would check all of your fuses & if you find one thats blown start looking for a wire on the frame rail on the drivers side. Mine was broken right at the fuel filter.
As for the removal, yes its a bear. You will need to remove the shield 4 bolts. Then there are 2 straps with 2 bolts each. You will also need the tool for removing the fuel lines that you can get @ any auto parts store. Don't let the tank hang on the wires or fuel lines as you will damage them.
Hope this helps.
yes you have to drop the tank. and the shield under it. the fuel leval sender on the fuel sending unit is a brass float and has sprung a leak and sank, recomend replacing the entire thing with a factory unit and will poss last another 13 years. or can buy a float at local jobber for a few bucks. absolutly not a job for a novice and having a car hoist helps alot. can be done on the ground if you study yoga. and I hope the tank is empty
