Help with car heater trouble. 2001 Chrysler Seibring, heater works when driving but not at idle. Any ideas?

Question:
I get good heat while driving but as soon as I put on the brake, cold air comes out of the vents. No one has any idea how to help and don't want to spend a fortune for tearing out system without any clue as to what might be the problem. Would appreciate any ideas. Thank you!

How does the 4-cylinder Chevy Colorado/GMC Canyon drive?

Low coolant can cause the problem, Low coolant flow due to clogged heater core or raditator or hoses. The thermostat needs to be replaced as well, check the coolant for oil in the raditator too, if thats the case the head gaskets are blown or head cracked is a possiblilty.

What kind of changes (if any) did dodge make to the 2003 dodge durange, thats different from the 2002.?

You may have a vacuum leak in the brake booster. The vacuum is what directs the hot/cold air.

try checking your radiator, and overflow bottle. sounds like you are low on antifreeze

Car repair in Arlington, VA: need advice!?

Sounds like u have had it checked, but still sounds like low antifreeze or a bad thermostat. You can check the AF in the reserve easily but i would also check the radiator to make sure its full also.
