After I let it warm up a few minutes, and start driving it a little the noise goes away, but while I am driving it the first few minutes the noise is still there and it drives slow. And this happens everytime I start it, not just the first time in the day. Is this normal?

yeah, my vehicle does that too when it's cold. Don't fret, it's commonDepending on how old it is, it may have one of those clutch-type fans with a little thermostat on the front of it that senses the heat from the radiator and lets the fan freewheel after a few minutes.

Look for a little metal coil thing on the front of the fan blade if you can see in there.
well rosie i differ from the other answer in the fact that your fan is electronically controlled. depending on the year of your trailblazer it might be as simple as taking it to your local gm dealer and having the pcm recalibrated for this problem. or there may be an actual problem with the electric fan clutch and may cause other problems when the weather starts to get warmer and you want to use your air conditioner in the truck, it may not get to cool inside because the fan isn t spinning fast enough. i d say that your best bet is to have it checked out at the dealership.i know the dealership costs a little more but you stand a better chance of having it fixed right the first time. the dealership has a scan tools to check the operation of the fan. i work at a gm dealership and i ve seen this complaint many times before.
oh yea while you are at the dealership ask them to see if there is any open safety campaigns on your vehicle too.

Sounds normal Rosie,I think you are hearing the air pump running.As it will at startup because the engine is putting in more fuel for a cold engine.So the air pump is running to help burn off excess emissions.If you are worried about it take it to our dealer as you should have lots of warranty.Good luckMore Questions & Answers ...
