Question:
My boyfriend and me share this car and we go 3000 in about a month and a half. We've gotten the oil changed every 3000 miles so far but now people are saying I can go a week longer. What are some signs that I need a oil change? My oil is medium doo doo brown :) (sorry for the visual)

The Honda Owners manual recommendation on the 2000 Accord is every 7,500 miles for both the 4 and 6 cylinder engines under normal use conditions.Which is the better car, Scooter, a 2002 Saab 9-3 or a 2002 Saab 9-5 Linear?
The severe service interval is less and depends on whether the car is a 4 cylinder or 6 cylinder. The 4 cylinder is every 5,000 miles for the oil and filter. The 6 cylinder is every 3,750 miles for the oil and filter. Most people drive under 'severe' conditions that include extended idling (stop and go driving), driving in hot or dusty areas or extended city driving, so that is the interval most Honda dealers go with on their recommendations.

The oil should be 5w20. there is no need to use a synthetic oil, just go with a name brand and use the factory filter. Always change the oil pan drain plug washer each time you change the oil or you will have an oill leak to deal with down the road.

Every 3000 or so is good, a couple hundred miles over won't make a huge difference, once you don't get close to the 4000 mark.every 3,000 if you want it to last, even though the owner's manual says something crazy like 10,000.

TOMARROWBasically I was wondering the same thing i've always been told 3,000 miles or 3 months which ever comes first but the book states 12 months 12,000 miles. So to answer the question I just called Honda's service department and they said it is 3 months 3,000 miles. You can go over but try not to let it get too far over. The oil is a golden color when you put it in and gets darker the dirtier it is.
Why are Lincoln Aviators such pieces of crap?
3000 mile intervals are made up by the oil companies to sell more oil. 5-7000 miles is fine. Especially since it sounds like you do a lot of highway miles, which helps by getting the oil up to full operating temperature and keeping it there. This evaporates any moisture and gas that gets into the oil. Very hot or cold weather for extended periods, or if you drive in very dusty areas may reduce that. It certainly does not have to happen "within a few hundred miles of 3000" as one poster suggested.Gang switch on Driver's side Toyota Camry 1995 not working?
If you use regular oil than 3000 is the reccommended. If you use synthetic, then you can go 6000 miles, but it's twice the price. Since you drive the car alot. Use the sythetic and that way your not at Jiffy Lube every month.
