How to remove/replace the starter on a '95 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

Question:
My car's been having trouble starting, and after I replaced the battery the mechanic told me my starter solenoid's probably gone. How do I find my starter, and what sort of steps should I take before I actually remove it?

Your solenoid is probably on your starter. To remove the starter you must get the vehicle situated so that you can get under it and work comfortably. A creeper and concrete floor are ideal, and you may need jackstands or ramps depending on your vehicle height. Then disconnect the battery. The starter looks kind of like like a coffee can and the solenoid looks kind of like a can of rotel mounted on the coffee can. It should be located on the bottom right side of the vehicle where the engine mates to the transmission. Remove the wires then the two or so bolts that hold it on. You can have it tested at Autozone or other parts store before you buy the replacement parts.

Well, if you have a solenoid that is stand alone (not on the starter) you won't have to replace the starter, just the solenoid.
