Your hood probably bent because the hinges needed oil. It is now weak in that spot and will need to be replaced to make it right.Anyone drive a Toyota Yaris? What do you think of it?
All the hoods on that model used from73-80 bend in the middle they were made to in case of an accident so the passengers wouldn't be decapitated by the hood during a front end collision. If the hinges were lubed at interval the bending wouldn't happen but I don't know many who did that. I wasn't very good about it myself. J.C Whitney used to sell a hood stiffener for that model. A couple chunks of 1" angle would work. But I thinks its illegal to use them because of the decapitation thing. The hinges got reeal stiff on my '75 chev. I found that wd-40 with the straw installed worked best. I'd lube everytime i raised the hood and after 5-6 times the hinges began working like new. Keep lubing those hinges everytime you raise the hood to keep them working great.More Questions & Answers ...
