would a 1.6 8 valve vauxhall astra gearbox 03 reg fit a 1.6 8 valve 2000 x reg engine vauxhall astra, or has there been any changes to the design of the gearbox

They will probably interchange,but,your gear ratio will more than likely be different.As will the speedo drive.The only way you can confirm if they will interchange is to go to your local vauxhall dealer.You will need both the identification numbers/letters off both gearboxes.
