Question:
It has that new smart key.where it's not actually a key...more of a remote looking thing. My sales rep. told me that it's hard for someone to steal those cars but I dunno. The alarm will cost me around 1k at the BMW dealer. They don't suggest an alarm from a different place because of all the wiring that was done at the BMW place and that would jeopardize my car and my warranty coverage. What 2 do?

Do you think Jeremy Clarkson likes R32 GTR's?
look at it this way, you get the alarm. you set it and go inside. some one comes along, messes with it and sets it off.by the time some one gets around to find out what the racket is all about, any thing of value will be long gone any way
most of the time when a car such as this gets stolen is when the owner leaves the key in the car or is car-jacked. a smart key will not allow the perp to circumvent the system in the amount of time that they are comfortable with(3-5 mins.).
if i was buying the car when you were making the deal, you should have insisted that they install the upgrade. don't get an aftermarket unless bmw approves in writing that it is ok.
Did Subaru own Saab in early 2000's?
Well i take it its those small credit cars things, but when u leave the car how do you know it's locked? if you go near to it its open, thats bound to confuse youOpinions from 2002 PT cruiser LE owners?
Well first of all it depends on where you live. No offense to anybody but if you live in a bad area of course you need an alarm. Second of all why is BMW charging you money. The warranty should cover this. Also if it ruins the warrant it would be a bad idea to install it. The warranty on BMW's are very helpful. My check engine light is on,but my jeep runs fine.Anyone have any ideas??
how many times have you heard a car alarm go off, and no one calls the police or does anything about it? smart car thieves don't care if they set off an alarm anymore... they just break in, pull the power to shut it off and flatbed the car away. What was the excact date of the invention of the automobile?
alarms are a waste of money, period. the 'smart key' is only good to prevent a thief from starting the car, they can still flatbed the thing off and part it out if they can't sell the car (since they can't start it).

Yes, Get an alarm, it is a brand new BMW. no, you dont need an alarm I have a 2006 e90 330xi and I was told the same when I picked up my car. Besides if you leased it they replace your car if stolen. And the new BMW's with the new keys are real hard to steal. If it is a manual transmission it cannot be started by being pushed either. Also 1k is a bit high ive seen them for 500 installed, but even then its a waste of money.Chevorlet cavalier salvage value?
Alarms are unncessary on the new bmw's.The dealership is just trying to take your money.
