Cutlass or Escort?

Question:
Right now i have a 1998 Cutlass(looks like a malibu) and Im fixing up a 1999 Escort Zx2 Coupe. Which one is better? Im not looking at the luxury features, Just the engines, Im gonna sell whichever one i dont want, im gonna drive them both but i still gotta replace the front suspension in the escort, so which one is more powerful? or better acceleration?

I drive for a living using my own car and I had an Escort 1998 and drove it for 275,000 miles with no serious problems.
I changed the oil at 3000 and did a lot of mixed (Highway and Local )in the NYC area.
After that I wanted another Escort but they stopped making them and I bought a Focus.BIGGEST MISTAKE I ever made. I needed a new engine at 110,000. Plus it's just crap in general.

Is the escort automatic or manual? If its automatic get rid of it, if its stick I'd keep it and ditch the gutless. Stick shift ZX2s are very reliable, automatics aren't. A stick ZX2 will be as fast or faster than the cutlass also and get better gas milage to boot.
