I drive a 1996 Nissan Sentra. I bought it a few months ago for $1,100 and it has 100,000 miles on it. It's a really good car, but I've noticed lately that when I try to accelerate quickly to get on the highway or whatever, the car either shudders or the engine gets really loud, but I still don't accelerate. Is there anything I could do to make it accelerate smoother? Any ideas would be helpful.

Your sentra does not have a timing belt. and that doesn't sound much like a trans problem. take the car to a nissan dealer and let a real proffessional look at it.I need cheap cheap bodykit for my 1995 honda civic dx?
i think you might have been ripped offf...that sounds serious.if its manual transmission, it means ur clutch is slipping and basically ur just reving...if its automatic transmission...then i dunno.never driven automatic b4..lol
Check the timing belt and make sure it is not one tooth off.

i know nothing about cars, but I have a 2000 sentra and right before the battery died on my car, this exact thing happened. that must be the problem with all the sentras, I have a2004. It does the same thing, Its loud but the acceleration stinks. take it tothe shop to be checked.More Questions & Answers ...
