Question:
I recently have been burning a lot of oil, ecspecially when I accelerate from a stop I get a big cloud behind me. The car has always burned a lot of oil even though the heads and valves were done last year. I did just shorten the intake pipe to make the air filter more accesable, but I doubt thats it. I also did put in some fuel injector cleaner in about a week ago. Any thoughts? Is this serious, or should I just get a prelude?

if you worked on the intake or around the intake then there is a good chance that either the PCV hose is missing or disconnected or that the PCV valve is clogged. The PCV (Positive Crankcase Ventilation valve) is used to vent off the pressure inside the oil pan caused by compressing the air in the oil pan on the downstroke of the piston. If the PCV is disconnected or clogged then the additional pressure in the crankcase will force the oil upwards and past the piston rings to be burnt in the combustion chamber.

That's the first and most logical thing to check. The second is to check the oil level. Too much oil can cause oil to get pushed past the rings and cause the same condition as an inoperative PCV.

Then the question is, what color is the smoke? Oil smoke would be blue. Coolant from a ruptured head gasket or crack in the block would be white. If you had an injector that is leaking the smoke would be black. I am basing the answer on blue smoke, but it could unrelated to oil and be a fuel injector or fuel pressure problem.

Sounds like your piston rings. Adding injector cleaner or monkeying with your air filter aren't going to fix it.
