Recommended change is 60,000 miles. If there are no repair receipts to up the selling price - what are the chances that job has not been done,yet? Pretty good. And for a 20buck belt do you think it is worth the risk to leave it? I would change it just to have piece of mind. Now or very, very soon.

VW does not have a recommended interval for replacement, but if you are at 88000 and it has never been replaced then it would be a good idea to do so! almost all manufacturers recommend replacement at 60k
