Im thinking about trading my '91 firebird convertable for a 1997 dodge ram slt long bed truck.
Dont like my cars interior color.?
The truck has about 141,000 miles on it. With your experience how much left on the truck do you think I can get out of it? And would you drive it 40 miles a day?

It looks like it is in pretty good condition, especially for a 97. I have two uncles with one, I had one for a while and my father currently has a 98 and has put 150000 on it since he got it in 02 and has never touched it. Is it a 318 motor or a 360? Both are great but the 318 is bullet proof, they will last 300000+ before it needs rebuilt, both have been around since the 50s I believe. Is there any iformation on 2006 Toyota Tacoma 4X4 Access cab V6 automatic truck?
I also forgot to add, ask if the transmission has ever been rebuilt. They tend to last about 100000 or less, so the odds are it has been. After they are rebuilt with aftermarket seals and such they are pretty reliable. Good luck again!!

judging by what i gathered from the pictures ( great photography btw ) that this truck is equipped with the 318. as the previous respondent had said, these engine are practically indestructible,and accept modification very well,why else would dodge build em for 55 yrs.also the only reason the 5.2 has stopped production is because it couldnt be made any more fuel efficient.the army has given this engine an ultra reliable rating. with 141k on it,this engine is literally just getting started.a friend of mine has virtually same truck as this one,just not in as good a shape,that he uses on a paper route.at prsent the truck has a lil over 300k on it.engine/trans is original. though at this mileage some repairs are expected to be needed. but if you take care of this truck,it will last you for many more years.it looks as if this truck has never really worked,and was a pure commuter.if not equipped yet, id look into a spray on bedliner, to protect the bed if you do plan to work itMore Questions & Answers ...
