Cold air intakes do not make the exhaust louder. If you are refering to a "cone" style then it will sound a little louder because the air box baffles have been removed out of the system, and if you are refering to a drip in style then it will not sound louder because it is doing the same job as the factory style air filter, just it is allowing more air to pass through. It is very rare that a K&N air filter adds that much horsepower, maybe one or two HP, but nothing notisable. And what Muffler? I'm looking at a Flowmaster 40 Series and I'm wondering if that is it, how does it sound?

Sounds like a reasonable estimate for gains.

I don't see how it would make your exhaust louder, but a cold air intake will muffle less of the engine intake sound than the stock sealed plastic air box will, especially if the air intake is metal.
