Yes, there is a vacuum line that comes loose in the engine compartment. Look under your hood, I believe on the passenger side for a small 1/4" black tubing that looks out of place. If you find it, close by there will be a nipple, place the tubing onto it.There could be other things wrong, but this is what I found on my ranger. Should be about the same.
if your truck runs fine in 2x4, its the transfer case, you can pick up a used one from a salvage yard. the replacement will cost you a bit however.

Your sport trac is equipped with electronic four wheel drive. Before you go spending time and money on replacing a transfer case, I'd check the solonoid and relays. You may just have a faulty electrical connection.what kind of car is a 69 chevelle 300 deluxe?
