I have a 1995 Nissan max -shuts off for no apparent reason while I'm driving.?

Question:
It will shut off while I am driving - or sometimes when I go out to start it will not start, then it will decide to start. I know it's not the battery (new battery -cells fine )or the alternator. Every thing goes dead no radio,lights etc.Took it to the shop jump started It runs like a lamb .Don't know when it will cut off in traffic again.Had a water pump put on few week ago & it started after that. I know the water pump should not cause it to cut off in mid traffic. Any ideas what could cause this problem?

I have a 2001 Ford Taurus SES, does this car have a timing belt or chain ?

Could be that the people who installed the water pump left a connector loose or maybe damaged a wire.

if you had the work done by nissan then they can find out exactly what is the problem. But then again nissan wouldnt have made any mistakes in the first place!
