How do i fix a heater?

Question:
i just got a and ford ranger 1997 for 800 dollars
but the heater dosnt work i tried everything like
changin the swich . any suggestions?

That particular vehicle ('96 to '99 Rangers & Explorers) were known to have broken blend doors ( the door inside the heater box that switches between hot & cold). The symptom would be a "hit or miss" with the temperature selector like you describe. Unfortunately, the repair requires removal of the entire instrument panel to access, and replace the entire heater box assembly. Hope this helps.

check the heater cre and see if the lines are even hooked up the core may have split the previous owner bypassed it. also if it is just the fan wont come on check the fuse panel. Good luck

Is it the heater fan or the heater? If its the fan it could be the switch or it could be the fan motor. They will have to be replaced. Check local salvage yards for the parts.
