Question:
I think this engine is great, gas mileage, torgue ,etc. I want to build it up though - headers, intake, carb. Is it worth doing all this, everyone says its not, that I should throw a V8 in there instead.
What do you think?

they are a great engine and respond to mods just like any other 5 liter, what they lose in revs they make up for in torque :)They look and sound awesome with 4 barrel, headers and cam

Where is the blower motor located in my 2003 Mercury Sable?
how new is your warranty? with ford's 3 yr 36000 bumper to bumper warranty, and 5 yr 60000 mile drivetrain warranty, it's kinda silly to pump up a new car and void out your coverages.Accessories for an '05 Chrysler Sebring...help plz?
The inline 6 has a reputation for being a well-built, long lasting engine in stock form. As for building it up, it depends on what you are expecting when you are done.where can i get a renault espace to use for parts im from yorkshire area?
We did it to an 81 F-150 a friend of my dad had. It really woke that truck up, and sounded really neat too. Those sixes last forever! I would do it because I like different motors. Any idiot can build a 302 or any other V8, it takes cajones to build a six. FYI, my dad is building a Chevy 292 for his 81 C10. He is looking at 250hp at the wheels. What is your opinion of the newer Ford Minivans?
yes it is cause they are indestructible motors and they deliver adequate performance.where is the A/F solenoid located on a 92 mazda b2200 carburated.?
It depends on what you want to do with the truck . If you already have the 6 it would not cost much to beef it up. Personally I would go with a 302 roller set up because of low cost performance parts availability and better resale value.I need a HONDA tech's help! Please read and tell me is this is possible.?
I had one in my 1985 F-150 This engine is a low reving torque monster. Very dependable and always started. I never got really great mileage with my truck, maybe 18 on the highway tops..... The 300 will be better for towing and hauling versus the 302. If your going for racing get the 302. What do you have a truck? If you do stay with the 300-6Terrano 2.4l petrol starts then stalls after a few seconds?
What do you want it for?Torque or HP?
If you want it for torque go for it!!
where to find a twenty three toothed gear to match speed odometer with 373 gear?
i have to agree with the friends don't go with it. the 6 will cause more of a vibration and ford engines are not that well known for their reliability.which one is a better buy, 2003 evo or 2002 Bmw M3?
I've heard of guys building up these engines and I think it would be pretty cool because it's different than your typical 302 or 351.how much would it cost to buy and intstall profesionaly a neon light kit on my car(rough estimate?)?
Anyone who questions the reliability of these engines is nuts. I had an '84 F-150 4spd with a 300 I-6 and that thing was BULLETPROOF. I don't know how many miles were on it because neither the speedometer nor the odometer worked. I can't tell you how many times the thing ran out of oil (the rear main seal was totally busted) and I still drove it home, making all kinds of horrible noises. Once I got home I'd add some oil and the sound would smooth out and it would be good as new again.
how are the doorguards on an accord held on?
I probably ran that thing out of oil a hundred times and overheated it half as many times as that and it still kept coming back for more. Its probably one of the best engines Ford ever built.
How much cc is a 2007 Mitsubishi eclipse?
Best engine Ford ever made for durability (4.9L I6)... you could kick the sh** out of it and not hurt it... But I wouldn't go doing anything to it. If you want performance, go to the 5.0L V8 and modify it if you want. You'll get more out of it and parts are easier to get.for dependability stay with the 6 and just freshen it up dont build it up if ya want the horspower then change out the motor to a 351 modified or a 400 and do the mods on them the 6 is bullet proof but when you start building it up it cant take the extra heat generated with the mods
know this from experience done two 6 cylinders for shits and gigles and they failed with hard use
