Is there any difference in sound form having true duals compared to having a Y pipe?

Duals will flow better, there will be a slight difference in sound, but make sure to use a crossover if you run duals because you will have better low-end torque. If you have only one catalytic converter, then you will have to run a Y-pipe to be smog legal, but then split it again after the cat. If you have dual cats, run duals. If you are somewhere that doesn't require smog testing, then just run duals, but be forewarned it may be harder to sell it if the smog parts have been removed.

Yes. You'll need two converters to do it correctly. Use the largest pipes possible to the tail of the transmission. Add a "balance pipe" diagonally across connecting the two pipes. Find the largest inside diameter short muffler you can find. Finish your system by adding a simple turn out tailpipe directly in front of your rear tires. You'll have the sound that keeps on giving. Do It!
