Weiand 177 blower?

Does anyone know what the bottom pulley is made of that comes with the 177 weiand super chagres.It seems to be made of some type of aluminium but you can't polish it

I own a shop, and race a lot. It is made out of aircraft grade aluminum. The reason you can't polish it is; it has been anodized. This process keeps the metal from corroding, and makes the outer surface hard. So hard in fact, that polish just won't do anything to it unless you get down below the surface into the normal metal, which is about 1/32 of an inch deep. It is done by placing the part in a chemical vat and electrifying the metal, after it is cleaned with acid. It is pretty much a plating, but just not called that.
