I bought it used from a private owner. It drives great but has a rough idle and needs a new alternator belt. But it's been taken care of and in good shape for a used car.

make sure all the breather hoses are not rotted and/or collapsed when you do the tune up, a vac leak could cause a rough idle also.

the fuel pump went out on mine and was too expensive for me to justify replacing it, but that was the only part that was overly expensive, you could probably get tuneup parts for under $100 and save some serious $$ if you do the work yourself. just be sure to get a Bentley manual for the car too, it has everything you ever wanted to know about your car in there! (i have Bently manuals for my 87 Vanagon and my 03 Jetta, they are indispensable!)
