ive just had the the thermo changed and both sender units but problem is still there,when the car is turned on the temperture shoots right to hot even when the engine is stone cold.ive just had a auto electrician to look at it and he thinks the garage fitted the wrong coolent sender gauge? but what do you s think? cheers

yes your right the wrong switch so now try the following.go to local motor discount shop,order new switch take log book to proof age and year if you now nothing about the car, once you get the new switch its easily changed has follows.look at new switch,look at engine and find old switch,simple renew it and top up with water and antifreeze hope this helps you solve your problem if you need any more help email me and i will gothrought it stage by stage don't pay garage prices lol wayne

voltage regulator on the back of dial display.It def sounds like the eng temp sensor it could be the wrong one or they have wired it up incorrectly you will see this if you see electrical tape around the wiring that goes to the sensor. It can also be (but very unlikely) a fault instrument gauge.also it could be they havent bled the system correctly when they changed the thermo. I suggest you take it to your local Ford dealer they wil be able to give you a more accurate answer
