Most older cars and some new ones (not too many) use Etheline Glycol (green anti freeze) and newer ones use a different mixture (red antifreeze). You must use the correct mix or you will dammage your cooling system. Most auto parts stores can tell you what type is right for your car.

Absolutely you can use a name brand anti-freeze, oil etc as long as it meets the specifications required. And it will have no effect on any warranty claims should they arise.Has anyone seen the new 4 door Jeep Wrangler?

yeah, you can use a name-brand coolant (properly mixed, and not Dexcool). Honda coolant is now blue. Honda dealerships will notice the color. Can you interchange a 1965 mustang steering wheel with a 1967 steering wheel?
Also, you should have flushed the radiator and replaced the coolant once by now. It's better to have the cooling system flushed before introducing aftermarket coolant because Honda coolant (for older models, at least) is silicate-free, while aftermarket green coolant isn't. (except for Dexcool, but Dexcool should not be used in Hondas).
Power steering fluid is Honda-specific. You can use name-brand coolant, but not power steering fluid. The power steering fluid must state that it was made for Honda vehicles.
A good coolant of any brand is fine, but stick with the Honda automatic transmission fluid, if you have an AWD use Honda's rear diff oil as well.
I've been warned against using non Honda fluids in the tranny and rear diff in my 2000 Honda CR-V by after-market parts retailers, so there must be truth to this.
