my civic has exhaust manifold and the cat built in one, all one unit, i was planning to buy 4-1 headers but would it fit, meaning the lenght?

Your D16Y7 engine uses a pre-cat style manifold, what you can do in this case is purchase the header for a D16Y8, but you will need to buy either a catalytic converter or a test pipe for the D16Y8, because by changing the stock manifold out for a header, you lose the cat, which you need to replace after the header.Check with aftermarket stores to be sure. Since exhaust is one of the commonly modified parts, there should be aftermarket kits that will do the job.

It sounds like you have the d16y7 find out and see what will fit. You'll probably have to get the manifold and a new cat. Try DC sports they should have it. I had a y7 and swapped to a b18 and put the DC 4-1 header and I like it.
