Question:
which would be better for a year round vehicle,? living in southern ontario with snow a couple months of the year, and still taking it to the track every once and a while
Answers:
I have a question about my 1990 Lincoln Towncar?
Since you even hinted at snow, the STi hands down. I've driven a 350z in the snow and it was a hair raising experience. I regularly take my STi to the snow, and only have to switch wheels because my every day tires are goodyear F1s and don't take kindly to the snow, but I have Conti Extreme Contacts on my stock rims so it's 15 mins or so to swap them out and it's a snow chewing beast. With some minor mods the STi is quite fun at the track, hell even stock the STi is a blast to drive(although I'd recommend at least getting an aftermarket rear anti-sway bar to help balance it a bit, even with the ddcd bias towards the rear it tends to plow a bit in stock form). Nowhere near as good looking as the 350z(although I've never really taken a liking to the 350, I'm still partial to the last gen 300z which was sex on wheels), the STi is definately more usable.1998 BMW gas "door" doesnt lock?
At the track the STi is FAR more forgiving. Granted in the hands of pros, the 350z has been known to beat an STi marginally at the track, but in the hands of a novice, or even a fairly well seasoned track goer, the STi is far easier to drive and more times than not the STi stomps a mudhole in the 350z. As far as straight line performance, from a stop the STi romps on the 350. At highway speeds from a roll, stock to stock, the 350 can barely edge out the STi, due to the lack of AWD, although an ECU reflash quickly changes that outcome, add a turbo back exhaust to the mix and it takes quite a bit for the 350 to be able to keep up.
I have Suzuki reno 07. There is a button HOLD by transmission. What is it for?
The only downside to the STi is if you start modding it turns to an addiction quite fast. I started out telling myself "ok, only turbo back and ECU flash then you're done", then "ok, GT35R and a pump gas tune and you're done" the last was "ok, only the stroker kit, a bigger AR GT35R, and some headwork and I'm done" now I'm eyeballing a GT42R setup :p

Since the Subaru Impreza is built for tougher conditions and also for performance, I'd have to go for that rather than the Nissan 350Z. Plus, The Impreza is a sedan, meaning a bit more practicality.Anyone know what I need to do to Install a Turbo on my jetta?
