I have a 2000 wrangler. I have put 31 x 10.5 tires. I noticed after alingment making a turn I had a wheel scrub and afterwards the steering wheel was not centered. Will wheel scrub call this. The vehicle was wrecked at one point with front end damage. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I have exactly the same size tires on my 06 Wrangler..no scrubbing. I have stock suspension. It must have something to do with the wreck. It may be something minor that can be corrected by an alignment shop. They can center the wheel, too.Cheapest place to buy a prius in georgia?
I think I understand the question, if your wheel is rubbing against something on the inside, such as the fender liner, it could be because the tires are to big. You may need a lift kit to adjust for this problem. As far as will the tire rubbing cause the steering wheel to move, the answer is not likely, it would take something bigger to get the steering wheel out of whack. Whoever did the front end alignment should have re-centered the steering wheel at the time of alignment, you can probably take it back to them and they will fix it for you.Remember this though: an alignment is a very easy thing to knock out, most shop warranties do not cover alignments because the smallest pot hole will take a vehicle out of alignment.

ON THE WRANGLERS THEY SHOULDNT RUB THEY CLAIM TO BE ABLE TO HOLD 31X10.50R15 WITHOUT RUBBING BUT ONLY IF THEY ARE ON FACTORY WHEELS IF U PUT AN AFTER MARKET WHEEL ON IT MAY TAKE THE BACKSPACING AND STICK THE WHEELS OUT. WHICH LOOKS GOOD AND ALL BUT ALSO CAUSES IT TO RUB ON THE PLASTIC MUD FLAP THINGYS ON THERE. U CAN GET A COIL SPRING SPACER KIT TO INSTALL AND GIVE IT 2 INCHES OF LIFT TO KEEP IT FROM DOING THAT. BUT THE ALIGNMENT CHANGES ONLY A SLIGHT BIT U CAN STRAIGHTEN THE STEERING WHEEL WITHOUT TAKING IT TO A SHOP. ON THE TIE ROD THAT GOES FROM THE RIGHT FRONT TO THE PITMAN ARM HAS AN ADJUSTMENT ON IT THAT WILL NOT ADJUST THE TOE SETTING AND U CAN ADJUST THE STEERING WHEEL. IT TAKES TWO PEOPLE BUT IS FAIRLY EASY TO DO I WOULD STILL RECOMMEND TAKING IT TO A ALIGNMENT THOUGH JUST TO MAKE SURE THERE IS NO FRAME DAMAGE.More Questions & Answers ...
