Ok...I've got a 2006 Sebring, which I love so no Chrysler bashing please! I tried to start it this morning and it made this loud "tick tick tick" noise coming from the starter. I figured the starter had gone out on it. I called my local Chrysler dealership and they told me that the battery wasn't charged. So, this evening I took her out for a 2 hour drive down the interstate to charge up the battery. I stopped at my parents for 1 1/2 hours, got in to start it and it did the same thing. I jumped it again and it started fine. Can someone with some type of knowledge explain to me please what is going on?? Do I just need to take it to the dealership for some warrenty work?? Thank you!

Have the battery and the alternator checked. You can drive from here to the moon and if the battery does not hold a charge or the alternator is not sufficiently charging it will do you no good.If the car starts with a jump charge the starter is likely OK. It is either a battery, alternator, or wiring problem.
i own a repair shop,and since it is under warranty id take it in and let them repair it for free,why pay for something when you can get it done for free,you,ll have to pay soon enough when the warranty runs out so use it while you have it good luck hope this helps.

Most autoparts stores will check your battery and alternator for free.Doubt it is the starter since it starts when you jump the car.

My Dodge Dakota did the same thing a few months ago and had to replace the battery.
If you never had the battery replaced since 2006, i would have it checked first.

for the aternator to charge the battery it takes time and a lot of sttoping since the battery charges when you brake not when you drive on the freeway I suggest you take it for a drive around town.What do the "Average Speed Check" signs/cameras on motorways mean?
Hey I love my 2006 GTC Convertible. Two things, either the battery is defective, in which case you need to go to the dealer and get them to take care of that. Depending on how old it is, they may prop-rate the cost. Or there may be something draining the battery. You didn't mention if it's a ragtop, but if it is there are those stupid lights on the rear view mirror which are really easy to leave on by hitting the switches on the mirror. (and if it's daytime, you'll never see that they're on.) Otherwise check for some other drain to the battery.If you own a Mercedes Vito van do you have any issues with it?
I just got me one of these 06 Sebring and I had problems one week after I drove it off the lot! and guess what I used my warranty! I took that sucker right back to them. Especially since the battery is in a difficult spot! Use that warranty because when it is gone u will miss it. One thing I've learned from having a Chevy with no warranty and parts no cheaper than 500 is to use the warranty while u got it!More Questions & Answers ...
