What would be a some convincing reasons for buying a 1985 toyota celcia supra?

Question:
I'm 17 and trying to convince my parents to get a used 1985 supra. But so far the only halfway decent reason I have for convincing them to get it is that it has 2 seats so I won't be able to go over the maximum amount of people I'm legally allowed to have in my car.

Do bigger rims and wider tiers make the car handle or corner better?

Anything else useful? Like crash test rating or gas mileage?
I'll take anything. Tell me something halfway unique to this car and I'll try and find a way to put a positive spin on it.

Answers:

Tell me how to do that?

This would be a good car choice. I have had 4 1985 Supras. I am currently driving a 1984 5 speed with 220K on it.
Here are the good points about the car.
1 My insurance company rates it as a sub compact so insurance is cheap.
2. The car get around 19 mpg city and about 27 mpg hwy.
3. The car will go at least 300K with just normal maintenance, my daily driver has 220K on it and I still drive it out of town.
4 It is soon to be a classic, and prices for good used 1983 - 1985 Supras are going up
5 Maintenance is low, just do an oil change every 4K and a timing belt every 100k. Tune ups about 75K with platinum plugs, clutch every 175K.
6 There is a website dedicated to the car and you can network with other owners www.celicasupra.com

Hello! I am going to hotwire my Lincoln cont 1970 car.Battrey to coil.?

Sorry your parents are right on this one. It's not even about the car itself, and the fact that it'd be high insurance and a police magnet. It's the fact that the car is 22 years old, even if it's a toyota it's going to be in the shop every other week. I wouldnt even touch anything before 1993 if I were looking for a used car right now.

Is the Corvette the shoddiest sports car of all time or just the most overrated sports car of all time?

When a car gets older, even if it were kept in a garage and only driven 1000 miles a year, it rots. And since it's so old you'll have a hard time finding parts to fix it. And by rot I mean like the seals become brittle on everything.

Beadlocks for jeep?

theyre bad on gas, not very safe, will be a maitenence nightmare, theyre not very fast, low production numbers, so parts are somewhat expensive, and the insurance will be sky high for something so slow.

its a bad first car in general. Rather than trying to ask us for reinforcement of what you think a good first car would be, ask us what would be a good first car.

Visual firing order for Chevy s-10 blazer 4.3 vortec?

I owned a '79 Supra that lasted about 20 years and 200,000 miles. If the car you are looking at has that many miles (and you don't know for sure, since the odometer turns over at 100,000), you are probably near the end of its life expectancy. Also, the last few years I owned the car, the repairs did get more frequent, and it got to be kind of a high octane glutton - it was getting about 30mpg in highway driving, but with gas prices high and likely to continue climbing, a car needing 93 octane to run well can get expensive.

Vintage Windshield Defroster?

About the only reason I can think of to buy the car is if you are a good mechanic and want to try your hand at getting an old car running like new. Finding parts for a 20-year-old car won't be easy, however. If you do get it running well, you'll have a car that a lot of folks will think is pretty cool. Also, the other expenses associated with owning it will be low - there will be no depreciation, the ad valorem tax will be minimal (if your state has that), and your insurance should not be too bad. On the insurance: it's a old sport coupe - emphasis on old - so you won't get an insurance rate like you are a kid driving a sports car; also, the blue book value will be low.

Any comments on an Isuzu Rodeo. Any Problems?

If i were u, i would rather buy a nissan 300 zx from aroun 1992-1995. Yes, they do cost about 4 grand more, but it is much more reliable, and it's faster (twin turbo). An old supra will probably break down on you in 1-5 years, depending on how much you drive. Like mentioned before, it's not very safe, because of its outdated safety precautions. Buy a car which is within 15 years from today.
