Hi there, i would like to know the difference between the wrxs before the 2006? the 2006 is 2.5 litre and the others are 2 litre. Does interior of the normal wrx 2006 dash light up red like the sti?? and is there much more power in the 2.5 litre?? thanks

There are a lot of differences actually. First of all is the front end. The lights and bumper have been changed for better coefficient of drag. It cuts throught the air a lot better / is more aerodynamic. The tail lights have also been changed.Are Japanese cars really better than American cars or is it all a myth?

The engine has been changed to the 2.5 block from the STi. The head has also been changed to a better flowing head. The car is now, essentially, a mini STi. A bigger turbo and you would essentially have an STi.

The interior has not been changed in the WRX. The TR version does not get the CD changer and gets the older 02/03 style seats as opposed to the 04/05 style seats that the regular WRX and the Limited trim get.

It may not show in the magazines and the papers but the 06 WRX is under rated. It is faster than the 04/05. The 230HP rating is a fluke and there have been people that have run high 13 second quarter miles with just slightly more air in the tires. This was quite a bit faster than the older WRX which was rated at 14.1 at best by the magazines. That figure was never duplicated and anyone that tried to get it ended up with a broken tranny. The real time for the 02-05 WRX was more int he lines of 14.4 or 14.3.

In north America the difference of the 04 & 06 WRX Are little mostly cosmetic and primarily the front grill. he dash, seats, wheels, steering wheel, shifter knob and accents are diferrent in the STI. No the dasdoes ot light up the same way. The 2.5 litre in the 04 WRX is 227 hp`06- 250 hp. The 04-06 STI is rated at 300 hp. The new WRX & STI's have been re-rated for 224 HP & 293 HP.Is parts on a 1992 and 1998 Ford Taurus compatible?
There are actually quite a few differences in the North American models of the WRX. The obvious exterior changes are one. With the addition of the TR trim to the 06+ WRX lineup there are even more differences. 17" wheels standard, colored calipers, aluminum control arms, 230hp/235tq instead of 227/217.. All 06 WRX's (except the TR) have a 6 disc CD changer and the usual green gauges and dash. I believe this was an option in the 04's. Also in the 06 the wheel base is slightly wider, no MOMO steering wheels, different gearing with a 3.70 final drive and a 2.5l with almost no lag at all.Overall, the biggest differences are the exterior, wheels, and a larger engine with a LOT more torque. The numbers don't look to be that different(235 vs. 217) but test drive both and you will notice it!
