Old Jaguar?

Question:
I'm fascinated by the Jag XJS, from the 1980's, but there are so many horror stories about Jaguar dependibility (or lack thereof), that I am a little afraid to take the leap. Anyone with real knowledge about just how bad,. or good they were?

Answers:

Can someone direct me to a reliable website that would provide historical information on 1947 Mercury Coupes?

Jaguars look good but that's it. They were heavy cars back then and were known to break down. In the U.S. you can't get many aftermarket parts for them. You already know that you are headed for trouble but if you have your own shop and money to burn then go for it. Why not get an 80s bmw or mercedes and restore it? Then modify it a little so that the newer models can't look down on you.

They are very attractive cars. If you like to tinker with engines, get one, it will keep you busy. Depending on where you are getting parts will be anywhere from a challenge to impossible.
