I have a 1998 VW GLS, i have no auto coolant in my resevoir and can't remove the cap to add more. I think a vacuum formed and can't remove the stupid cap! Any suggestions? I was driving last night and noticed that my temp. gague was spiked and when I turned on the fan and thermustat to hot, cold air came out, which is not good. I can't afford taking it to a mechanic at this time, so any suggestions would be appreciated!

if you have not heat in the car it means there is probably no coolant in the enginespray some WD 40 on the lid it might help free it up

Pull off the rad hose. That is the way I fill my car when I change thermostats and have to drain all the fluid. Top rad hose comes off and I pour antifreeze down the hose to fill up the block and one side of the thermostat. Seeing that you have tapped the rad cap and nothing moves, then get a smaller hose and put it into the rad where you took the hose off and fill the rad as best as you can.Then the rest would go into the overflow container.
