The frames have a nasty habit of rusting from the inside out. A fairly easy fix is where the bumperettes are, punch a hole in the ends of the frame rails. Every time you wash the truck shoot water in those holes to get rid of the mud and debris that built up in there. Water dries quick but the mud keeps the metal wet for days and causes more rust than water alone. Shoot a rust protectant in there twice a year and the frame will last forever.

My '91 didn't have any drivetrain problems (except for common leaks). The frame rotted out, which I believe is rather common also. That is what stopped me from driving it. I should also mention that my YJ got abused. Left in streams, parked in the rain with no top, etc. They really leak when left upside down too (a friend's did that).Can I buy just the fiberglass window for a used camper?
i own a repair shop ,and i usually have one or two of these around,the only real bad thing i got against them is the rust problem on the frames ,they rust out real bad especially over the back wheels,and front section,other than that there great vehicles,i like driving those,the can go off road as good as most vehicles will go on road,but that's my only real complaint about them,i usually lift the body off of mine and sand blast the frame,and repaint it,i do this on every one i buy or trade for,and that's been a lot,but that's about it,the rest of the stuff is always minor,good luck i hope this helps.More Questions & Answers ...
