I'm looking for a fairly new, quality car and the 2000 Dodge Neon and Intrepid came into my price range of around $3K. The neon has 108K miles and the Intrepid has 67K. Are these good cars? Which one is better? I really want the better fuel mpg but I have a feeling that the Intrepid is a safer car. Please let me know!

Dude - I've had both - the Intrepid is a much better car. Go for it.Better pick-up, roomier, more stable. The Neon is a chick car anyway :)

i would get the intrepid 100 times before i ever thought about a neon. they are VERY safe cars, i ran my first one into a cement barricade at 60 mph and walked away, it didnt touch anything behind the engine and the engine that was in it is in my "new" intrepid. the only reason i would say not to get the intrepid is if it has the 2.7 liter engine, they run too hot and the oil breaks down faster than normal and sludge builds up inside the engine causing premature engine failure. newly rebuilt engines start at around $2,500 on ebay, not installed. if its a 3.2 or 3.5, it will run forever!Should i let my husband buy a Mercedes c class?
Don't get a Neon.The federal gov't told dodge to quit making them because they were so unsafe! (it was replaced by the caliber) You will like a Intrepid better guaranteed!More Questions & Answers ...
