Burning smell and smoke coming from top of dash of my 1994 ford Bronco.?

I have a 1994 ford bronco. It runs ok,but I experienced this rubber burning smell, and saw smoke coming from top of the dash board. I shut the engine off, and restarted it. I could not find anything. Any ideas?

I had a smell once that smelled like a burning dump. Turned out that the battery was at the point of destroying itself. You might want to check your battery. The smoke you see might indicate that some wires having to do with the heater box might be shorting or melting. The smell might also have to do with something that is overheating near the air intakes.

Be sure its not antifreeze from the heater core leaking, it will cause the windshield to get fogy if it is. Otherwise check to be sure all the electrical components are working properly, if not check the fuse and if a blown fuse is found then repair that circuit first. Good Luck and GOD Bless
